SchoolWorks began working in the K-12 software market in the early 1990's. At the time, "Student Information Systems" was not a vernacular term. Most schools started with the intent to simply automate their attendance accounting, student scheduling, or grade reporting. Most school administration software systems were designed around one of these tasks with "modular" components added as the customer schools' needs increased. This evolution of database structure and user interface left many schools with cumbersome, clunky old legacy systems.
In 2005, SchooWorks endeavored to write a complete student information system from scratch. Without looking backward to any old code, we forged a brand new web-based student information system; a system without a crippled heritage of patches and updates. We included the input from users that we had garnered from 10+ years in the K-12 administration software market. We consulted with experts in database design, user interface creation, and state electronic reporting. We polled users from across the US for their input. Finally, we partnered with a custom web applications development firm, Synthesys Solutions to make SchoolWorks Student Information System come to life!
